Time. Can I Have Some More, Please?

Time. We all have it. We all need it. We all want more of it. At least I do. Can I have some more? Please?

Some blogger I am. I haven’t posted since the first weekend in January. And here I sit, writing a blog post about not having enough time to write a blog post! Maybe I should have waited to start “touring my life” until it was warmer than 30° outside and sleet wasn’t piercing my skin like shards of glass moving at the speed of light. But life doesn’t wait for fair-weather participants. Life is now. Even if it’s cold and wet.

Time is a commodity available to each of us in equal quantities each day. 60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes in an hour, 24 hours in a day. Free time however, is the component that seems to elude us. I think a 30 hour day and an 8 day week (with a 3 day weekend, of course) would be a solid perk. After all, I am one of those people who typically works 8+ hours a day and operates ideally with 7-9 hours of sleep. That leaves about 8 hours for everything else. And everything includes a lot.

Eight hours seems like a reasonable amount of free time, right? But it goes quickly. Very quickly. Eaten up by all those mundane tasks in my day that I’m supposed to look at with a sense of gratitude. I’m starting to harbor some resentment for those errands and tasks that fall under the “must do” category each day. And my time management system??? Well, it may need some tweaking. Seriously….my bucket list is calling.

Well, I don’t think I’m going to win the battle with the clock. But, I can say this: I am grateful for the time I am given each and every day. Every single second of this life is a gift. It’s my job to use it wisely.
